Guiding Principles
iGovTT’s business stratgey is influenced by several guiding principles. They are:
Build once, Reuse often
Avoid duplication and pursue economies of scale
Think horizontally in building solutions or platforms that can be leveraged or re-used across the wider public service
Connect and Integrate Government
Establish a robust and secure platform connecting all Government ministries and agencies
Establish standards for inter-operability to ensure that information can be shared, as required, between different Ministries’ applications and solutions
Enable Improved Service Delivery
Use technology to delight citizens
Create the “One Government” experience from the public’s perspective i.e. Seamless Government
Create a framework for re-engineering Government business processes towards greater efficiency and transparency and then rapidly make these available to the wider public
Modernize the Public Service
Equip public servants with the necessary ICT tools and training to improve literacy, productivity and transparency
Design solutions, accompanied by business process re-engineering, to bring Government offices / operations into the 21st century
Encourage Inclusive Government
Ensure that all citizens are considered e.g. the differently abled, senior citizens, persons living in remote areas, the Diaspora
Use surveys, focus groups, polls, etc. to capture the views and opinions of the public
Create awareness among both internal and external publics
Prepare the public for a new experience
Segment the stakeholders as appropriate; noting that different approaches may be required for individual communities. In many cases, we recognize the public service as a special stakeholder group Speak “their” language, not ours
